“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success” – Henry Ford
That is exactly how the seven teams, SEFC, ALPHA Q, Swinging Bowl, Hawthorn FC, All Whites, OMG FC and SALT FC from all across Australia’s continents presented themselves during the event (30th & 31st March), putting cooperation as the winning principle in order to win the grand trophy and the chance to compete in the Malaysia Summit of Australia (MASA) in Sydney later during the winter break.
With 906 Springvale Rd, Braeside, VIC 3195 being the venue of the event, fellow players started gathering early, getting the adrenaline running to prepare for their first matches with the other teams. There were also refreshments and food being sold along the event period for hungry and famished players or even spectators. Redbull further uplifts the team spirit by sponsoring free Redbull energy drinks to everyone.
The 2-days event brought down to Swinging Bowl, SALT FC, SEFC and All Whites to compete on the second day to grab the final three best line ups. The championship ended up with All Whites being this year’s champion, SEFC for silver and Swinging Bowl for bronze. Also, a big congratulation to Wan Muhammad Ilyas (All Whites’) for his momentous goalkeeper skills portrayed, presenting himself the Golden Glove award. Plus, to Ahmad Syazwan Bin Ahmad Suhaimi (All Whites’), for his superior offence skills shown in the field, being a predominant player for All Whites, bringing back three acquisitions for the whole event, Golden Boot, Best Player and the winning team’s trophy.
Special thanks to Wan Muhammad Muiz and Wan Adam Kamaruddin, the project managers for this year’s UMNO CUP for making it a truly successful event.
