Australia Day Parade 2012 – Malaysia Contingent

Dear Melbournians,

John F Kennedy once stated
“Ask not what your country can do for you,
Ask what you can do for your country”

In the spirit of patriotism, I would like to invite all Malaysians in Melbourne to be apart of Malaysian Contingent, to march on the coming Australia Day Parade.

To those who don’t know, Australia day falls on January 26 where it represents Australia Independence Day. On this special day, people of different cultures, history and lifestyle unite to celebrate our freedom and the things we love of the country.

It is our privileged as Malaysian to be apart of this parade, where we are able to reflect to the people of Victoria, on who we are as a nation. Let us show our Malaysian culture by wearing our fanciest Baju Traditional to the parade and enjoy the day alongside our friends and other people of Melbourne.

Event Itinerary:

10.00am – Meet up at Corner of Bourke and Swanston Street for registration*
10.30am – Australia Flag Raising Ceremony at Melbourne Town Hall
11.00am – Start marching along Swanston street to Kings Domain Garden
12.00pm – Marching ends. To Alexandria garden for other events while James Morrison will be performing till 1.30pm at Kings Domain Garden **

* Note: Do portray all our Malaysian culture, except for our malay janji okay? Be on time please! 😛

** (TBC) Will have to confirm this but If I were not mistaken, James Morrison, the Jazz legend will be performing for free from 12.00-1.30pm
